VAT Changes – getting ready for 1 January 2010
A few weeks ago we issued a newswire highlighting the VAT changes that will be coming into play shortly.
I wanted to issue a reminder about this to ensure that you are fully prepared for when the changes start.
VAT Rate change
The first change to note is that the standard VAT rate is going back up to 17.5% as at 1st January 2010.

New business regulations for October 2009 – are you ready?
Each year, the government introduces regulatory changes affecting businesses on two common commencement dates. These dates are 6 April and 1 October.
There are a number of changes due to come into force on 1 October 2009, affecting the minimum wage, tips and service charges, redundancy payments and the way companies are managed.

Minimum wage – Future changes
The rates of national minimum wage and the accommodation offset rates are increasing for pay reference periods starting on or after 1 October 2009.

Licensing Changes
Up to 2009, Keytime Tax Professional software was sold on an annual license basis and expired on or around the end of April each year.
Following customer feedback the software has now been changed so that from the 2009 product year, it will no longer expire and can be used indefinitely.
